Westminster Schools Library Service Training 2015 -2016

Using graphic novels and picture books at key stages 2 and 3
Graphic novels and picture books for older readers have a valuable role to play in developing students’ reading skills and motivation and their wider learning, but many people lack the knowledge and confidence to exploit them effectively. This practical, hands-on course for primary and secondary teachers, librarians and support staff will analyse their benefits, establish assessment and selection criteria, and identify ways to use them successfully. Delegates will explore a wide range of excellent resources.

Running a primary school library
A course for teachers, literacy co-ordinators, teaching assistants and anyone who has been given responsibility for the primary school library and has little or no prior library experience. The course will explore the aims and functions of school libraries and identify practical strategies for running them successfully.
