ASCEL is a national membership network of Senior Children’s and Education Librarians, who work together to stimulate developments and share initiatives relating to children and young people in public libraries and educational services.

Eastern Region ASCEL
Support for schools and educational settings in the Eastern Region
All library services in the Eastern Region work closely together to continually improve services for children, young people, families and schools.

Booktrust provides resources and tools to support professionals in helping children and adults alike to learn and grow in their reading and writing journey. It promotes quality recommendations with book lists, prizes and the following reading programmes – Bookstart, Booktime, Booked Up and Letterbox Club.

Centre for Literacy in Primary Education
The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education is an educational centre for schools and teachers, parents, teaching assistants and other educators. It is celebrated for its innovative classroom-based research and development in the fields of language, literacy and assessment.

Institute of Education
Institute of Education delivers high quality training for teachers and is recognized as a leading centre of educational research.

National Literacy Trust
The National Literacy Trust is a national charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK.

Museum of London
The Museum of London tells the story of the world’s greatest city and its people. It cares for more than two million objects in its collections and attracts over 400,000 visitors per year. It holds the largest archaeological archive in Europe. 

Reading Agency
The Reading Agency is a charity with a mission to inspire more people to read more. It works with many partners but in particular with libraries because they offer everyone equal access to books and reading. It runs the following programmes for children and young people – Summer Reading Challenge, Chatterbooks, MyVoiceUk, Reading Groups for Everyone.

Reading Zone is dedicated to helping young people, parents & adults and teachers to find out about children’s books. Each area on the site provides information about new and classic titles with expert advice to help you find the best children’s books available.

School Library Association
The SLA is organisation for everyone who is interested in the development of school libraries both primary and secondary. It publishes guidance documents, promotes good practice and operates a register of recommended consultants and trainers to support school library promotion and development.
